Detachment of the retinal tissue at the back of your eye is thankfully fairly rare for people who get big black
floaters in the middle of their vision.
Reaching the milestone age of eighty also means that by now you have about a fifty percent
chance of seeing black spots in your eyes that look like bugs or cockroaches floating in your vision. In most cases
this isn't a problem, but fifteen out of every one hundred people who abruptly observe bursts of light
flashing in their eyes will go on to have a tear in the retinal tissue.
