Eye Floaters And Double Vision: Potential Emergency
Having eye floaters and double vision at the same time is a potential eye emergency that should be
evaluated by an ophthalmologist as soon as possible. Eye floaters could be a sign of retinal detachment and seeing
double may represent a stroke.
Eye debris that floats around and back and forth in your vision is called eye floaters. Even
though they are extremely annoying, most eye floaters are not a serious problem but some may be associated with
flashing lights and may lead to a tear of the retinal tissue in the back of the eye.
Suddenly getting double vision, or diplopia, has a large number of potential causes ranging from a mild case of
dry eye to an imbalance of the eye muscles from stroke, multiple sclerosis, a tumor pushing on the eye, or
myasthenia gravis.
