What Cause Floating Spots In The Eyes And The Feeling Of
Dryness?
The frustration of seeing dark spots and lines endlessly drifting near your eyes is due to the gel called
vitreous ripping away from the retina. Dry, irritated eyes are usually caused by either your eyes not producting
enough tears or the tears that are produced evaporate quicker than they should.
Shrinkage and collapse of the vitreous jelly will happen to everyone as we age because of chemical changes
that occur in the back of our eyes and the liquification of the gel like material that fills it.
Some pieces of this vitreous drift in your eyes and sometimes they might appear to you as
spiderwebs moving around your vision or branched lines which can be thick or thin. Experiencing long strands that
look like thin noodles in front of your eyes are very likely eye floaters that come from leftover vitreous
debris.
Stringy fiber like material in the eye that moves back and forth as your head moves are common with
floaters.
