If you are actually diagnosed with not just a floater but also a retinal detachment then it is incumbent upon
your doctor to refer you on to a retina surgeon for further treatment.
Black floaters that get "stuck" in the center of your eye are particularly annoying because
they can sometimes partially block your reading ability.
Seeing a black spot in your eye that looks like a drop of oil can be unnerving, but it's not uncommon; half of
all people will get black eye floaters by the age of eighty. In combination with these "eye floaters" you may see
flashing lights to the sides of your eyes, there would now be around a fifteen percent chance of retinal troubles
such as a tear or detachment.
